Global Game Changers Launches National Ambassador Program

North Carolina Teacher Appointed First National Ambassador

Louisville, KY (April 10, 2023) – National education organization Global Game Changers has announced the launch of its National Ambassador program. The organization, which is a project-based program that provides teacher-tested, evidence-based, FREE Pre-K – 5th grade curriculum and resources that use service learning and talent development as tools to nurture children’s social, emotional, leadership, and academic growth, plans to work with teachers across the country to expand their reach, provide feedback for continuous improvement, and support the growth of the Global Game Changers community.

“Our program builds student leadership skills, so it’s only natural that we should also empower the teachers who work with them to have a role in the growth of our program,” says co-founder and Board Chair Jan Helson. “And these ambassadors will be able to speak to teachers and share their enthusiasm with a deep understanding of the challenges they and their colleagues face on a daily basis.”

The first National Ambassador with the program is Hannah Harvey, a 5th grade teacher at W.D. Williams Elementary School in Buncombe County, North Carolina, near Asheville. After launching the program with the 9/11 National Day of Service in 2022, Ms. Harvey has made Global Game Changers a part of her daily routine to build leadership and social-emotional skills in her students. The daughter of an elementary school teacher and principal from nearby Statesville, she is uniquely qualified to understand the education community.

“I’m so honored to be selected as the first National Ambassador,” says Ms. Harvey. “I just fell in love with this program, and my students did, too! They feel so empowered while they have fun and get to learn critical lessons that not only help my class run more smoothly, but also translate to a stronger community culture and will definitely support them as they transition to middle school.”

Ms. Harvey will fulfill her duties as National Ambassador not only in her own school, but also with local officials interested in sharing the program and through ongoing engagement with other schools in the state as a titleholder and competitor in the Miss North Carolina pageant program. She has included the Global Game Changers program as part of her platform as she works to advance in the competition and hopes to compete for the Miss America title.

Global Game Changers plans to continue to expand its National Ambassador program with teachers like Ms. Harvey, who are excited about sharing the tools and resources they offer. Making it easier for these ambassadors is the fact that this high-quality curriculum is totally free, thanks to funding from David Novak Leadership. This means that schools won’t have to strain their already-strapped budgets in order to access these tools to support their students.
