About the Judges

Jaylen Arnold started his anti-bullying organization, Jaylens Challenge, when he was 8 years old after being bullied due to his medical conditions, Asperger’s Syndrome and OCD. For his work, Jaylen has been featured on television (The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Nickelodeon’s The HALO Effect, CNN’s The Human Factor), profiled in multiple magazines (People, Highlights), and won several awards (the American Spirit Award, World of Children Award, the Princess Diana Legacy Award, for which he was the first American ever honored). Now a college student, Jaylen continues to speak out publicly against bullying.

Dr. Ann Larson is a Professor in the Department of Elementary, Middle and Secondary Teacher Education at the College of Education and Human Development, University of Louisville, as well as Special Liaison to the President’s Office for Digital Transformation. She led the college as Dean from 2014-19 and has also led teams on large federal grants, national and state accreditation of 50+ teacher preparation programs, and steering committees. Her ongoing commitment to teacher preparation and community engagement includes various research interests.

Lisa Middelton is the Regional Director for School-Age Child Care with the YMCA of Greater Louisville. Starting from the ground up, Lisa has dedicated her career to the YMCA and providing high quality out-of-school-time experiences to children. Through that work, she has served as an external program assessor, been named to national Y leadership development groups, and piloted programs from around the country, including working with GGC on its first afterschool programs in 2013-14 school year.
