AmeriCorps  VISTA Positions

AmeriCorps VISTA members are all about the work behind the scenes that allow us to build our capacity as an organization to serve more students more effectively. VISTAs commit to a year of full-time service, earning approximately $17,500/year, plus an Education Award upon successful completion of service. Check out what VISTA opportunities we have below. The Curriculum VISTA will build the capacity of GGC by expanding curriculum offerings for students and parents, as well as professional development opportunities related to special projects. Use your writing skills to expand student leadership, talent development, and community awareness. These curricula will give students, parents, and teachers an opportunity to understand and approach education in a way to expand economic opportunity.

The Event Planning VISTA will build the capacity of GGC to develop and put on high quality events that encourage donors, raise the profile of Global Game Changers, and allow students a unique opportunity to expand their power, social emotional, and academic skills through participation in exciting events.

The Development and Fundraising VISTA will research and expand grant opportunities. They will also build a donor outreach program, helping Global Game Changers increase the capacity of our programs by cultivating and fostering relationships with dedicated donors.

These VISTA positions will help tell the story of GGC–enhancing students’ social-emotional, power, and academic skills by helping students discover they have a unique superpower to make the world a better place: MY TALENT + MY HEART = MY SUPERPOWER! They will create video, audio, and graphic designs for use in the classroom and as social media and promotional content. Seeking skills in video and sound editing, graphic design, short and long-form video, creative thinking, and storytelling. All necessary tools and programs will be provided.

AmeriCorps Positions

State AmeriCorps positions involve direct service working hands-on with students in our School Empowerment Zone Programs. Members serve on different contracts, ranging from 300 hours to 1700 hours. Join our innovative model pairing an intensive service-learning curriculum, community supports, and a high needs school to change the outcomes for students.

Global Game Changers Children’s Education Initiative, Inc. (GGC) is seeking Kentucky State AmeriCorps Members to support our School Empowerment Zone programs based in Louisville, Kentucky

  • Support teams of in-school and afterschool educators at your site towards providing the best experience for your students
  • Work with partners to create hands-on experiences and meet students’ and families’ needs.
  • Manage the afterschool program under the direction of the Site Director, and support other components of the School Empowerment Zone program.
  • Manage afterschool in-classroom support from University of Louisville students, and support their growth as educators
  • Help students implement service projects that impact their community.
  • Give students the tools to manage their behavior
  • Engage in substitute teaching for the afterschool program as needed.
  • Support your students’ growth outside of your classroom
  • August 1 – May 31: 10:00 – 6:30
  • June 1 – July 31: 8:00 – 4:30

Requirements

Car required, College degree a plus, Commitment to the students you serve, Experience working with elementary-age students, Flexibility, Attention to detail, Responsibility, Leadership skills, Computer proficiency, Willingness to undergo and ability to pass background checks (Disclosure: A misdemeanor or felony offense or pending charges, including a DUI, but not necessarily minor traffic violations, will render an applicant ineligible to work/serve with Global Game Changers. Minor traffic violation(s) could render an applicant ineligible to work/serve at Global Game Changers at Global Game Changers sole discretion.).
