A GGC School Empowerment Zone (SEZ) is a collaboration between GGC and a committed JCPS school partner to develop and support a sustainable school-based community that aims to make a measurable difference in the life of the students we serve using our Global Game Changers social-emotional learning framework in-school and out-of-school, coupled with family support wraparound services.

Our SEZ Site Manager is responsible for coordinating the afterschool program, supporting the in-school program, and working with partners to enrich and support the community within the school.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Plans develops, implements, and evaluates site programs, services, and activities, including school-year afterschool programs and summer programs.
  • Coordinates with vendors, partners, and community organizations.
  • Collects and documents all objectives, outcomes, student data, and other information as required
  • Provides accurate financial documentation and management for the site.
  • Works with students and parents to ensure communication and engagement
  • Convenes an Advisory Council of staff, parents, and community representatives to assess program needs, review activities, and monitor program performance.
  • Communicates with the site’s principal and teachers in order to link program activities to school-day learning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Experience working with community partners
  • Experience working with youth and families from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-Time “Employment-At-Will” Salaried Position
  • $40,000 – $45,000/year depending on qualifications
  • Two weeks paid vacation/sick time annually

AmeriCorps Positions

State AmeriCorps positions involve direct service working hands-on with students in our afterschool programs, partner schools, and summer programs. Members serve on different contracts, ranging from 300 hours to 1700 hours. Join our innovative model pairing an intensive service-learning curriculum, community supports, and a high needs school to change the outcomes for students.

Global Game Changers Children’s Education Initiative, Inc. (GGC) is seeking Kentucky State AmeriCorps Members to serve as implementors of an intentional, afterschool expanded learning program.

Duration: 900/1200/1700 Hours

Program Details:

Make an impact in the lives of young people in the community by becoming a lead educator/School Empowerment Zone facilitator  for Global Game Changers’ unique  program. In each school, students learn how they can become real-life superheroes dedicated to making the world a better place while enjoying enriching curriculum, field trips, and opportunities to develop their talents with real-life practitioners. Ultimately, students put together and deliver their own service project based on how they can use their talents to help a cause they care about.

In the afternoon three classrooms (K-1, 2-3, 4-5) host approximately 20 students each, with intentional support by  college-age mentors. AmeriCorps members receive intentional training in competencies useful to the teaching process, including but not limited to trauma-informed care, program quality, CPR, and implicit bias. Job Description

Support intentional programming for school-year and summer partnerships that expand student social-emotional skills. Work with partners to sustain positive relationships, attend training on essential skills that support youth development and education, and impact students’ lives through curriculum-based enrichment. Spread the message of the Superpower Equation this summer to the children of Louisville.

The Fine Print

Program Details:

This learning program utilizes the Global Game Changers curriculum, ieldtrips and presentations by guest speakers, and opportunities for service to promote in-depth explorations into philanthropic causes, compassion, self-compassion, social skills, emotional regulation, and mindfulness for 60 elementary-aged students per day . At the program’s culmination, students design and facilitate their own individual service projects, using his/her talent to serve the cause they he/she particular cares about.  Students also engage in an academic program facilitated by trained teachers and supported by AmeriCorps members to enhance their skills and to ensure they attain or maintain grade level. This program is provided at no cost to the students or their families.

General Duties: Program Support Members will serve as support educators at a specific school site. This responsibility includes but is not limited to facilitating:

AmeriCorps  VISTA Positions

AmeriCorps VISTA members are all about the work behind the scenes that allow us to build our capacity as an organization to serve more students more effectively. VISTAs commit to a year of full-time service, earning approximately $12,000/year, plus an Education Award upon successful completion of service. Check out what VISTA opportunities we have below. Member Duties : To develop the social-emotional, power, and academic skills that Pre-K through 5th Grade students need to build a pathway out of poverty, the Curriculum VISTA will build the capacity of GGC by expanding curriculum offerings for students and parents, as well as professional development opportunities related to special projects addressing some determinants of poverty, including violence, systemic racism, and workforce preparedness. These curricula will give students, parents, and teachers an opportunity to understand and approach education in a way to expand economic opportunity.

Global Game Changers has developed a social-emotional curriculum designed to expand children’s SEL skill, power skills, and academic skills through a simple equation: MY TALENT + MY HEART = MY SUPERPOWER! We facilitate this program through in-school and out-of-school applications, with our VISTA program’s work focused on expanding and deepening our curriculum with and for students enrolled in Title I schools.

Member Duties : To develop the social-emotional, power, and academic skills that Pre-K through 5th Grade students need to build a pathway out of poverty, the Events Development VISTA will build the capacity of GGC to develop and put on high quality events that encourage donors, raise the profile of Global Game Changers, and allow students a unique opportunity to expand their power, social emotional, and academic skills through participation in exciting events.

Global Game Changers’ curriculum and programs are designed to develop and enhance students’ social-emotional, power, and academic skills by helping students discover they have a unique superpower to make the world a better place: MY TALENT + MY HEART = MY SUPERPOWER! Our curriculum and programs are free to educators, and we work with in-school and out-of-school programs.

Member Duties : Global Game Changers provides high-quality free social-emotional learning curriculum and programs to students, which enhances outcomes and builds student skills. Based on events of 2020, the Non-Traditional Instruction Video Content Developer VISTA will work to build capacity of the organization to reach students in times of non-traditional instruction by creating student-facing videos that help students facilitate the curriculum to gain social-emotional, power, and academic skills. Focusing particularly on underserved students, the member will work with teachers and management to create easy-access videos for students from Title I schools. Help Global Game Changers increase the capacity of individuals programs and expand to School Empowerment Zone and other programs through establishing a dedicated donor base.
