GGC Receives Promising Practices Recognition
(By Jessica Sears | Louisville, KY) –
Global Game Changers (GGC) is thrilled to announce that we were among a select group of 2019 recipients of Character.org’s Promising Practices Program. For over 25 years, Character.org has remained a premiere nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering positive character development, leadership, voice, and resources to a variety of individuals and groups. The Promising Practices Program recognizes organizations from across the globe who exemplify Character.org’s 11 Principles of Effective Character. GGC was designated for having a proactive and innovative approach to social-emotional learning and character development. Through a robust curriculum centered around Superheroes, GGC harnesses excitement in students and helps them recognize their own Superpowers using our equation: MY TALENT + MY HEART = MY SUPERPOWER! Whether it’s in the classroom or at GGC’s after-school programs, students learn valuable skills such as teamwork, leadership, empathy, philanthropy, and self-efficacy by attending field trips at important cultural sites, completing individualized service projects, and hearing from relevant speakers. We strongly believe that everyone can make a difference, no matter who they are, where they come from, or how old they are.
Recipients of the Promising Practices Program will be recognized at an annual forum held in Washington D.C. this October. The forum is an exclusive opportunity for organizations around the world to learn from one another and adopt the most enriching practices for positive character development. GGC will get to share our innovative approach to teaching social- emotional competencies while gaining exposure to new methods that will further enhance our students and community. We could not be more excited for this incredible opportunity!
Thank You to Character.org for this wonderful honor!
