Animals Week at Ali Program

Here at the Discover Your Superpower In-Residence Ali Center Program, we just wrapped up Week 11. This past week was the Animals Badge week. Animals week is a universal favorite among our students. We have several students who are passionate about all animals, large and small!

2016-03-23 17.41.56Tytianna Wells Smith who is a children’s book author and illustrator visited our classes and shared her inspiration for writing her books. The students had the opportunity to hear her share her books and learn from her personal writing experience. She helped the students write their own short stories, poems, songs and raps about their favorite animal. It was so fun to watch all of our students interact together in one room. Usually the Kindergarten through 2nd graders are in one room while the 3rd through 5th graders are in another room. Every student had to opportunity to share what they had written and it was a huge success! We were all quite impressed with the talent in our classrooms and the effort made by all of the students.

2016-03-24 17.02.52Critter Crusade also visited the classrooms during Animal Badge week. The founder of the organization shared her talents, passions and superpower equations with the classroom. The students loved watching videos of her animals and learning about why she cares about animals.

We are so thankful for all of the community partners who enrich our curriculum each and every week! Thanks Tytianna and Critter Crusades!
