GGC’s Evidence Base

Global Game Changers is committed to expanding its evidence base to share the results with educators and school districts. We are partnering with the University of Louisville College of Education to conduct a longitudinal study of the Global Game Changers Program and we work with Jefferson County Public Schools/Kentucky Department of Education Evaluation Specialist, Dr. Judi Vanderhaar to develop internal evaluation protocol and measure the success of our approach and our curriculum.

Assessments up to this point have found:

  • There is statistically significant evidence that the GGC program has a positive impact on students’ prosocial behaviors, conduct, and emotional distress.
    • These improved social behaviors include a decrease in referrals, a decrease in suspensions, and a significant improvement in school climate.

    • There were also improvements in the parent, student, and teacher perceptions of the school environment.

  • Results demonstrated a larger percent of students reporting growth in areas around compassion including: desire to be nicer to others, using their individual talents to help others, understanding ways they can help others, and engaging family and friends in helping others.

  • Pre-Post district survey data revealed an increase in positive climate, interactions, belonging and a reduction in bullying for participating students

  • Evaluation results showed that GGC made an impact on students’ motivation and confidence in helping others, and on teachers’ perception of classroom climate, student engagement, and conflict resolution.

All educators have access to one of GGC’s proprietary tools, the pre-post student assessment, within our educator portal. There, educators can view the impact of the Global Game Changers program on their individual classrooms.

Custom Protocol

Through the use of our evidence based, third-party, and custom developed protocol, we are committed to intentional measurement of our program to track impact, improve quality and enhance student outcomes. We aim to increase compassion and eliminate apathy, one real-life superhero at a time. We know that consistent and measured evaluation is critical to a successful learning endeavor and our data supports the positive outcomes and impact on all of our core competencies.

Third-Party Evaluators

GGC is evaluated by a third-party evaluator through our participation in the Metro United Way, BLOCS, and David P. Weikart Center Youth Quality Assessment Program. Our reports demonstrate that GGC consistently outperforms other OST programs on a local and national level. We also participate in Weikart Center’s protocol for Staff Rating of Youth Behavior (SRYB) Assessment. Results support that students consistently show statistically significant growth in all core areas measured.

Program Assesments & Partners

Program assessments that include qualitative and quantitative data, show growth among participants in all 5 of our core areas of measurement:

      • Decreasing the enrichment gap
      • Decreasing the achievement gap
      • Improving school culture and classroom climate, including attendance and behavior
      • Increasing levels of confidence and self-value
      • Cultivating empowered and engaged young citizens motivated to change the world.
